Through the Smoke…New Poetry Collection

Extra!  Extra!  Read all about it!  New collection of poetry out now.  I am so excited and proud to announce that my new poetry collection entitled, Through the Smoke, The Journey Continues,is now available on AMAZON.  This collection was truly a labor of love.

As we all know, life has a way of hurling us into flames that we never saw coming.  Some fires are visible, raging in plain sight, while other smolder quietly beneath the surface.  Yet other fires come in the form of a life-altering diagnosis that attack not only the body, but the spirit.  For me, one of those fires was breast cancer.

In this book, I employ the symbolism of fire to take readers through themes of passion and desire, transformation and renewal, resistance and resilience, and destruction and loss, drawing upon my personal journey through diagnosis, treatment, and recovery.  Through honest, evocative verse, this collection explores the complexities of human existence – our extraordinary capacity for love and destruction, resilience, and our ability to rise from the ashes.

Readers will find that this collection offers a deeply moving reflection on what it means to endure life’s most difficult seasons while holding on to hope and unleashing the unwavering courage and determination that lives within all of us.  Additionally, this collection is a call to readers to contemplate their own journeys, to embrace the flames that forge their character, and to find beauty in the ashes of past experiences.

As you make your way through the pages of my new book, my hope is that you will feel the heat and intensity of each metaphorical flame, through the use of vivid and lyrical language, and that you are comforted, inspired, and encouraged.

Fire in our hearts can serve as motivation.

Fire can burn crops causing starvation.

Fire can light up a path or burn it down.

Turning history into ashes.

But in those ashes, history will remain.

Fire cannot erase memories of joy, love, or pain.

  Representing danger and power.

Respect the fire or get devoured.
