More Than a Theme; The Museum of Us
Brooklyn, I’m coming to CultureCon.
And this year’s theme, “The Museum of Us,” is one of the things I’m most excited about.
Because a museum is a place where we decide what is worth preserving.
The stories.
The art.
The ideas.
The people.
The moments that shaped us.
And that idea feels especially meaningful to me right now, as I am in a season of bringing all of the pieces of who I am into one body of work; the attorney, writer, poet, author, strategist, and creative, and building something that lives at the intersection of creativity and strategy.
That’s really the heart of what I’m building with Creative Esquire Consulting.
I believe our creativity is more than something we put out into the world. It’s part of our legacy. And whether we’re building a brand, creating art, writing a book, negotiating a partnership, or simply figuring out what comes next, there’s a business side to that creativity that deserves just as much intention as the creative side.
That’s why I’m especially excited to be in a room filled with people who are creating, building, questioning, evolving, and leaving something behind.
And…I’ll also be hosting a CultureCon Braindate entitled:
“The Bag Comes with Fine Print; Contracts, Money, and Power for Creators & Entrepreneurs.”
This will be a candid, interactive conversation about contracts and the business side of creativity. Contracts are part of the creative hustle, but understanding what you’re signing can be the difference between securing the bag and giving away more than you realized.
Because if CultureCon is asking us to think about the Museum of Us, I think it’s also worth asking:
What are we building?
What are we preserving?
What are we leaving behind?
I can’t wait to experience it all in Brooklyn. See you at CultureCon.
